Pain

I have been experiencing severe pain in the chest and back for a few years now. It is a burning sensation that is continuous on both sides of my body. On a scale of 1-10 it is a seven or eight and nothing relieves it completelynot even morphine. I have been treated for heartburn, asthma and copd without any success. The x rays have so far not indicated anything. Any ideas what this might be?

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Such a pain is not caused by heartburn, asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).  This type of pain is more commonly associated with nerve compression and/or inflammation, possibly in association with arthritis or disc degeneration of the spine.  You should have x-rays of the chest and spine.  You may want to seek consultation with a lung specialist or a neurologist.
