I presume you have COPD. If you are on steroids (Advair, predisone, etc.) you may have developed a problem with your adrenal glands. This was one (of many) side effects I suffered with Advair. I was producing high levels of cortisol which led increasingly to disabling panic attacks. The short-term solution was small doses of Xanax. I also was put on Travacor which inhibits the excitory neurotransmitters. Ultimately I had to get off Advair because of yet more serious side effects. It is unfortunate that my pulmonary specialist (an HMO hack) neither recognized nor solved any of these problems. It fell to a true doctor that was not part of the system and whom I pay out of my own pocket.
