What is causing my liver problems?

I had a blood test showing I have liver problems. My doctor thinks it is caused by obesity though I suspect it's my psychiatric medicines. I'm also getting tested for Hep B,C, and HIV, though I don't think it's those diseases. My doctor says I might need a liver biopsy I think. I'm not sure what that actually entails. She also says the liver problems could lead to cirrhosis. What do you think is causing my liver problems?

I agree with Lynn.

Obesity can cause Fatty Liver Disease is a common cause of liver disease. Follow your doctor's instructions. Find out what the problem is and get treatment to prevent further damage to your liver and health.

There is no reason to be afraid of our medicines. If you are concerned ask your psychiatrist about any effects on the liver the meds might have.

Good luck.

Please take your medicines you need them.

Do your medicines say on the possible side effects ( should be listed on the paper that comes with them) could effect the liver. If that is the case you could discuss this with your doctor and you can work together to find a treatment that can work for you.

A lot of people have hep c and don't know it. Also being overweight also can hurt your liver. Get the tests your doctor recommends and go forward with knowledge not guesses.

Best wishes

And one more thing, I'm scared to take my psychiatric medicines now, so I haven't taken them for a few days without my psychiatrist knowing.
