Ongoing Pain

I suffered a IAN injury in August 2008 from the extraction of the No. 6 molar. The extraction was carried out in Thailand as I was working there as a professional musician at the time. The operation was very long 1.5 hours, and post-operative I developed a very bad infection / dry socket which lasted approx. 8 weeks. The pain became so intense that I had no choice but to return home in England.

Since August 2008 I have been suffering chronic acute pain from this injury without any real relief. I have been seeing a pain specialist in London since December 2008 and he has prescribed 600mg Lyrica per day which help a little but not much.

With kind regards,

No I have never suffering any sharp or stabbing pain....only dull throbbing and aching. I will take your advice and contact one of the dentists you mention....I am prepared to take any action that will resolve this nightmare pain.

BTW where are you based ?? I am visiting the USA in a month to see friends.

Thank you so much for your kind assistance and time

Again many thanks for your time......the pain is mainly dull and throbbing and it normally worsens during the day, up to maybe No. 8 on a scale of 10 ....there is always a underlying level of pain that is present, plus pain rises and falls every few minutes from the extraction point, i.e.. the socket, it is very localised. I have had root canals carried out on both the teeth either side or No.6 so the nerves are no longer present. I do not suffer from any..... dizziness, ringing in my ears, clicking of the jaw when open, closing my mouth, neck ache, just this nightmare pain,

The pain specialist prescribed the Lyrica (which does help a little) that I have been taking since December 2008 and there has been discussions re. either freezing the area with Cryno or burning the area with Radiofrequency waves.but I'm not sure about this !!

Kind regards
