Alternative to Zoloft

Hi Dr.

I have been diagnosed with OCD for about 5 years, and suffered with it most of my life.  I was taking Zoloft for about 2 years, and felt wonderful, then I noticed a huge weight gain of 20 pounds and noticed that my hair was starting to recede.  I quit the medication in November of 2007 and by mid January 2008, my weight returned to normal, and right now, my hair has grown back with the help of Rogaine.

I was wondering if you know of any medications other than zoloft, that do not have these side effects?  My OCD is again controlling my life, and I'm not ready to gain weight and lose hair again, especially since my physical appearance is part of my OCD, as I always worry about my appearance.

The meds should help with that as well.

You will be happy to hear that there are many alternatives.  Check with whoever does your prescribing, tell them about the problems. They should be able to come up with another med to try.
