Yes to Dos... I'm so totally lost when it comes to that. I know it's simple once you get the hang of it. What I'd like to do is learn some basic commands so I can fix things like my networking on my Unbuntu. For some reason, I can't get online with it. It reads my Actiontec modem, but can't connect to it. I have a Gateway MX6426 laptop with WinXP dual boot to Unbuntu
I'm very sorry that I took so long to reply, I have been really busy with my college work. :( I try to be on here more this week, hopefully. I still have a little bit of my Term Projects to finish for the end of this month. :(
I have had a little experience with Sles 9, Unbuntu, and Nobix in College. I haven't really worked with Linux that much though, mostly all of my experience is in Microsoft Windows. I think it is very interesting and would like to learn more about Linux though. I'm very sorry, as I'm not really able to give you a answer to your question. :( I'm willing to research it though, if you would like. :)
I have learned some Dos in first term. If you would like, I could try to help you out with that. :)
Glad you mentioned it...I have put off learning linux. I have copies of Unbuntu & held on to older computers with the intent of installing it or one of the others on one or more....just have too much fun with PC's...but maybe you can give the kick in the "motivation" to finally buckle down & do it!!!!
What caught my attention was the security factor safeness being better with Linux & trying to get out of the loop of microsoft's grip on OS's & the price difference. What stalled me was the fact that most software in businesses is still Microsoft's...although there are rebellious talks in various sectors ....... My hubby was a prorammer analyst & very familiar with DOS. I dabbled in it & have books on it. My youngest wants to learn more as she is in the classes now for Computer Support Specialist.
What types of systems did you build? I like cruising through the neat gadgets coming out to use as accessories. I used to feel that way about going through cookbooks...lol!
:-)))
