my husband was diagnosed chf 3 months ago.he was fit and well until feb last year, he got mrsa infection through a scratch or somehow, he got septacaemia, it attacked his kidneys, lungs and heart.He had aortic valve replacement,a pacemaker, patches to the heart where infection was removed, he also has a small leaking hole, less then 0.5 mm,He alos suffered a stroke on life support, hich has left him with epilepsy,he was 8 weeks on life support, 12 weeks in intensive care.he came home in may, august i was told he has right heart congestive heaart failure.he has reduced kidney function, although dailysis stopped when he left hospital in may.i am his carer now, he cannot move far without severe breathlessness, even short of breath at rest, i have seen him get worse the last 3 months, since his last fit, i have no idea what his prognosis is, and cannot get a straight answer from anyone.we care for our 2 disabled kids, age 21 and 5, and get little or no help, if this is long term i need more help, if it is not i will manage with family help,he has chf of the right heart.

HI, he does not have oxygen,he is going back for another cardioechogram asap,and has been recalled to see consultant 3 months early.he is propping himself up at night i have noticed a cough also .his water tablets have been doubled and he seems to be tolerating so far,has recently developed swollen feet, ankles and lower legs, thats what prompted me to take him back to the hospital,as i felt he was getting worse,he walks very slowly,with a stick.I lost both my parents last year, and thier house was disabled adapted as my mother has arthritis,and so we have moved here as it has stairlift, bathing facilities etc.we lived within a few hundred yards of my older kids before, but now its a half hour journey and i miss them terribly, as we all saw each other daily for coffee etc,also my hubbys family are useless, cannot even turn up for a visit,my children from my first marriage have done so much for him, my daughter will come and sit with him, cut his hair, even pedicures,she has a 3 month baby and 3 year old,I have also noticed that he does not keep track of things he watches on the tv,if i leave the room and on return ask what happened he cannot say.ally

My heart goes out to you.....you have your hands full. I would say you need help! Your husband sounds like he has been through so much. CHF can be controlled but you always have it. Is he on oxygen?
