HELP-my son is sooooo sick!

My 16 year old son has been sick for almost 2 years.  When we finally had the endoscopy/colonoscopy he was diagnosed as having a stomach ulcer, hiatal hernia, GERD, and Crohn's.  Since then he has PUT ON about 50 lbs so the Dr is now thinking he may have been misdiagnosed and won't treat him for Crohn's.  He vomits for days on end and has chronic, painful diarrhea (around 10-12 or more times daily).   Other symptoms include severe abdominal pain (right side), painful joints, headaches, and rashes on his torso and arms.  He has been on medicine for his ulcer and GERD for over a year now, yet he still spends a couple days a week vomitting 3-5 time a day.  He has been sick so long that he missed most of his freshman year of high school and I am homeschooling this, his sophomore, year.  Please help with any advice or other things we should look into.

I would have to agree that you need a second opinion.  I would also like to add that I To have chrons and took me a long time getting diagnoses, but I can tell you the best thing that you can do is be his advocate  Keep a daily journal times are very important, pictures of the rashes what he eats and how long before he gets sick.  I try another Dr. if this one is not helping you.  Your son should be enjoying his life and not feeling this way  I can suggest a Dr. that would listen and who is great not until I found him was I considered and hypo and now after probably many unuseful surgeries I am diagnosed with a disease However, I do not know where you live this Dr. is in Dartmouth, NH  I would also say can a notebook binder and start collecting your sons info and bringing the info with you and hold onto the others can make copies this way it does move the process along you know how long it takes to get records from one dr to another

Good luck

Time to get a 2nd opinion.  There's no reason for him to be living like this.  Good luck with this and I hope he can quickly get properly diagnosed and treated.
