the best thing you can do is stay informed
read books about crohns, explain everything to your BF as you go along, you can't help but be a little nervous. Trust me-if he wats to be your guy- he needs to be just as informed as you.
I have had crohns since I was 20- I'll be 50 this year!
have had lots of good understanding supportiveFAMILY and friends along with me for this crazy ride and they helped me get through the good times and bad.
you shold be instantly comfortable with your GI doc-if not find one you like/trust and are relaxed with.that makes a HUGE difference.
Stay hydrated= drink vitamin water- skip gatorade(too much sugar)
exercise, eat lots of yogurt-really keeps your gut in check, and reduces gas.
Texas girl, yes there is life with chrons. Your GI dr needs to become your best friend.
Because finding the right medicine is the key. I am in remission (mild chrons now) but still have episodes of needing to get to the restroom. However, nothing like it was before we got it under control
Best of luck to you. Learn the things that set it off, do de stress.

wow. i cant believe that roro said that to you.. YOU CAN FART.
i was diagnosed with ulcertaive colitis/proctitis and crohnes about 3 years ago. i used to run tot he bathroom.. alot.. i NEVER used to fart.. ok maybe a little. but not a whole lot.
i fart quite normally now.
i dont rush to the bathroom anymore.
i have been in remission for about 2 years.
NEVER.. EVER stop thinking that you wil just have to get used to always running to the bathroom. or never farting.
my diet has changed.... i haev regular bowel movements.... and even fart .
its all about diet change... learning to de stress... finding and taking the right medication. or.. using a holistic approach.
i was undiagnosed for so long.. i thought that i was going to die. i bled out my rectum for so long that i had begun to accept that nothing was ever going to change. bull- oney.
there are things you can do to improve your quality of life... !!!!!
yessssss its something you should get used to
