I still don't get why they didn't give you an exact figure.  Almost all ultrasounds in early pregnancy will say you are x weeks x days along.  This doctor gave you a very vague-sounding range, not from the ultrasound at all but from the hCG numbers, and any doctor would tell you that those are not very precise for dating pregnancy.  Can you go somewhere else and get a vaginal ultrasound?  It's important enough to pay out of pocket for, since it is early enough in the pregnancy to use the ultrasound to compute probable conception.  Later, that won't be true, as the margin for error gets larger the further along you go in pregnancy.

I don't think you have reached 7 weeks yet, if there was no visible embryo and beating heart.  Where did you have the ultrasound done, was it at a hospital?

Was it a vaginal ultrasound or from your stomach looking down?  If he can't see a heartbeat yet, I would say you are earlier than your 7th week. You can't tell from the hCG level in your blood how far along your are, the range of 'normal' measurements is really wide. (Was this ultrasound at the ER or at your ob-gyn?  Usually they can look with an ultrasound and say something like 5 weeks 2 days, not just a wide range based on your hCG count.)

Anyway, if no heartbeat yet, it would seem like you can't be in your 7th week yet (given, of course, that the ultrasound was any good, and given that the pregnancy is progressing normally).  By your 7th week you can definitely see the little embryo like a teddy bear, moving around like an acrobat.  If you think your ultrasound wasn't the best, you might consider going to a more up-to-the-minute place that has the best ultrasound tech.

Hi, jazy, when is the baby due?  Have you had an ultrasound yet, and if so, what estimated due date did they give you based on the baby's measurements?  If you haven't had an ultrasound, it would be a good idea to get one right away, as the earlier the ultrasound the more accurately this dating question can be assessed.  Tell them you don't know for sure when your last period was, and ask them to measure the embryo and give you an estimated due date based on the baby's measurements.  From that, you can use a conception calculator and reach an estimated conception date.
