Venous insiuficiency or claudication?

I do not know where to post this question...because I can not find a vein forum...but my symptoms are in my leg veins, so I will ask here...

My doctor has not diagnosed me for the past 13 year.  My legs hurt when I stand up, or walk.  My PCP did not know what was causing my leg pain.  The pain gets progressively worse, until it feels like my legs will burst, and I have to sit down to relieve the pain.  I cannot walk too long.  About 20-35 minutes.  (This year, my nailfolds (the skin by my cuticles) swells and gets red and throbs when I walk, also.)

My PCP thought it was from my spinal cord being compressed.  (But a nurse on the Health Line said I had CLAUDICATION in my legs.)  What is claudication?  And how is it diagnosed?

My doctor tells me nothing…even after I showed her how the skin on my leg pits, when I press into it.  There is swelling and red skin on my legs, and my skin feels cold skin and the hair has stopped growing on both legs.
Now a different PCP says I have venous insufficiency...and wants me to wear compression stockings.  But she has not done any testing, so how does she know what is really wrong?

How is venous insufficiency diagnosed?  Don’t I need a Doppler vein study?

I googled venous insufficiency, and found out more about it.  Then I asked if the valves in my legs were not working, or if my Illiac vein was compressed in my abdomen, and my PCP said she will not reply further…

What are the diagnostic guidelines and treatment guidelines for venous insufficiency?
Is there a vein organization I can contact for further information?

I am not sure if she is right about my diagnosis, and need more information, before I wear the stockings...

I have venus insufficiency in one leg and dilation of 2 veins in the other with confirmed dvt. I had testing done to determine this, they put blood pressure cuffs on my legs for one test. I also have diabetes so I'm not sure if that is playing a role but I never had any of these symptoms until after the dvt. I'm trying to do as much walking as possible and will add more exercise in soon. I wear loose socks now after 1 year of compression wear. Sometimes I have pain also which feels like neuropathy maybe even though my a1c is good, but  it seems to pass. I have to go back to the vascular doc at some point. I hope you figure out what is going on for you and how to get some relief. I think 20-30 minutes walking is good.

Thank you for your help...what were your symptoms of venous insufficiency in your one leg?  Did your leg hurt when you walked and did it cause edema and swelling like mine deso?  My doctor was not sure if I had venous insufficiency, because a nurse said I had claudication..and I am trying to find out what claudication is.

I hope you feel better.  Did the compression stockings help when you wore them?
