Canker Sore? Gum problem?

My boyfriend has had this HUGE canker sore on the bottom left side of his gum for almost 3 months now. Looking at it,  it appears his cheek is kinda detaching from his gum in a way. It extends from just about the front part of his lower jaw to almost the back where his molars are. He's had alot of pain with it and tried using a Kank-A for it for a month now, and his cheek is a little swollen where the canker sore is.. We're not sure what it is. His father is a doctor and said it should go away soon, but he said that like 2 months ago. So we're worried it could be something else, since it doesn't seem to have gotten any better. If you have any ideas on what this could be or know any kind of remedies, please respond.

I agree!  This is more than just a canker sore, he needs to see his dentist ASAP!

he needs to go to a dentist asap.... sounds like a cysts has formed.... maybe a bad infection  espically if he is in pain.....that sounds huge by the way you describe it.and it not a good thing..... the longer you wait the worse its going to get
