Clindamycin problems after root canal

Last week, on Tuesday, I had a root canal and was prescribed clindamycin 150mg/3 per day, which I started taking by Thursday. I have been taking them for about a week now while going through some of its most irritating side-effect, diarrhea, for which I will be tested for C-difficil. However, last night I also began to experience some chest pains. I am experiencing them now also, as I just woke up.

I have about two days left for this medicine. Unfortunately the endodontist who prescribed the medicine is not in his office today.

I am very scared of continuing the medicine, should it trigger something worse. However I am also scared to just stop it.

Thank you!

Sir,
I had my root canal one month back. After that I had itching in my palms,
legs & buldging in lips. At first I thought it was skin problem, later I came
to know that it is the side effect of infected root canal treatment. Is it sure? Please help me giving details. I am scared. Please advise. My email ID : ***@****

Yours truly,

Thank you. I spoke to my MD today, who also checked out my gums for any inflammation, and he too recommended that I stop the antibiotics since he saw that at this point there was relatively little need for it. However, after the tests were concluded and all checked out fine, it seems likely that my problem could have been muscle induced since there is pressure-pain near that area.

Thank you for your answers.

Have you thought about contacting the pharmacist that perscribed the medication for you?  Maybe he would be able to tell you something about the side effects and if your symptoms are related to the medication.

I think you should stop taking the medication and speak to your MD to check out the side effects that you are experiencing.
