Crown Lengthening for Root Reabsorbtion??

Is crown lengthening a common treatment for root reabsorbtion? I've had it described to me as putting a filling in the root area to stop the reasborbtion.

thanks scottma. Sounds like you're a dental professional. Yes, I do have external root resorption but not root caries. What is establishing biologic width?  Both my dentist and peridontist recommend this procedure, and I do have confidence in both of them. I am just a bit skittish because I have a history of receeding gums and have been getting gingival grafts since I was 15 (I'm 27 now). Does the gum tissue that's pulled down for a crown lengthening procedure re adhere to the root after the procedure heals? Does the procedure stop further resorption?
thanks again,

It appears you have root caies or external root resorption. Crown lenthening procedure can establish biologic width and facilitate visual access to the lesion. Detailed consultation with your dentist is advised.
