Cut my gum on one tooth biting my tooth, will it heal?

Hi,

I frequently bite my nails. The other day i bit so hard my finger slipped, drove my finger nail into one of my lower teeth and now i have an uneven bottom gum line. It bled for about a day, was sore and red for a week, and now it looks better but it's still not healed over. It's still kinda sore to the touch, the lighter brown part of my tooth is showing, it's looks like there is a skinny (U) around the bottom of the tooth. It's not like anybody will ever see it...but it still bothers me.

Is this thing ever going to heal? It seems like it's gotten better since day one, but not quite to the extent i would like it to. It's white around the edges so im sensing that it could be still healing. It just seems like it needs a good shot of neosporin but obviously i know you can't do that.

At this point, you'll probably have to just keep the area clean by brushing on it gently and keep an eye on it.  It may take a few more weeks to fully heal.  At that point, if the gums don't heal all the way up, it'll probably remain that way unless you do a gum graft to cover up the root again.

I don't do gum grafts so its hard for me to say.  It depends on the type of graft and how they plan to do it.

How painful is a gum graft??...I'm going to give this thing exactly 2 weeks, August 1st. I'll repost then and let me know what i should do then...thanks!

Anyways, my profile picture is the actualy tooth, and there is a picture in my photos folder. Isn't there anything you can put on it to promote healing???
