its totally safe to use anesthesia unless you have high blood pressure, which just means you don't use epinephrine with the shot; or only use a low dose of epi. Otherwise there isnt much reason to not get the anesthesia except preference.
unless you have a heart problem then go for it.... it could be very pain ful if he drills to far on that tooth and gets into the dentin/pulp/nerve ... also it will subside the heat from the drill along with the water they splash in your mouth......

As long as you have no conditions that might cause the injection to be harmful or ineffective, there shouldn't be any problems with it (I'm hypersensitive myself and injections and sedation have no effect on me whatsoever, meaning that I have to have general anaesthetic for dental work to be done and to avoid the increased pain I'd suffer with injections/sedation). But you can ask your dentist about it if you're concerned about the injection. He should be happy to answer any questions you want answered. =o)
