Root Canal

I've had two root canals over the past 6 sixs.  Recently my root canal on my small molar next to my left eye tooth, has been acting up.  Just like a tooth ache and then after about 1 - 1 1/2 hours it will disappear only to return at another time.  Then occasionally the root canal on the lower back left molar feels like there is still life in it and achy.
Why am I still feeling a toothache in these root canals.  It is so irritating and I know my dentist will tell me that it's impossible to still feel anything in those teeth.  It's almost at a point that I want them extracted to get away from aggravating toothaches.

Dear Katie633
I addition to possible re infection, there also could be the possibilities of some smaller canals (accessory) that have been missed. The other possibility are micro fractures and 3rd grinding and clenching. Over the years I have come over many situations like yours where patients did not needed root canal therapy, the pain simply was due to a pathological bite. I would also recommend first an Endodontist evaluation and the have your bite evaluated by dentist who is familiar with occlusal pathology by visiting www.top3dentist.com

Its possible that the tooth is re-infected although it seems a stretch for both to fail.  I would go back to your dentist to let him/her know about the issue.  They may want to refer you to an endodontist which is a specialist who deals with root canals.
