Localized pain on roof of mouth, hurts when touched.

A few days ago I noticed a pain on the roof of my mouth, I thought it was just a canker sore so I though nothing of it. But the sore red spot isn't rounded, it's more like I may have cut myself but I don't recall. It feels raw to the touch when I feel around with my tongue and it really hurts when food, liquids, or any type of pressure really is applied to it. It seems to follow along a couple of those bunched up skin lines near the back of the front of your teeth if that makes any sense to anyone.the area of pain is about the size of a dime.Any ideas if I around should be worried? FYI a tooth near this but not right next to it is starting to feel a little tender like I may be getting a cavity. I don't know if that information helps but they are on the same side of my mouth.
