Need a dentist

Hey I'm 23 years old, I had braces when I was younger which I had popped off the brackets*(I know i was very stupid and a lot younger and not as wise) and the wires came out so I have stains from the braces because I smoke, I have rotting teeth both of my back too teeth are very bad, it's almost like the right side of my back top right tooth is gone and the left side of my left top back tooth is going...I also have some of the side of my right back bottom tooth seems like it's slowly chipping away, and then a small hole in my second to the front right tooth, which has never been painful, but the back top two have gotten quite painful at time keeping me up and making me take over the counter pain relief, I haven't taken the best care of my teeth in the past which I regret fully but am trying to now, I know I need a dentist but I make minimum wage at a job that gives me 25 hours a week I barely cut making a living please any help would be appreciated I'm in dire need and have no idea how to pay for a dentist. Thanks

If you want to remove the stains on your teeth there are many home remedies, but the thing is they take quite a long time to show the result. I have tried some home remedies to get rid of the stains, but then I consulted with my family dentist Dr. Ken Wolch in Toronto and he gave me whitening trays. You should really have patience only then you can see good results with home remedies. Try using baking soda with lemon juice, rubbing with fresh orange peel every night before going to bed, or can mix lemon juice with some salt and apply it on your teeth. Baking soda will give you good result, but regular use of it is not good for our teeth enamel. Just try it and see. All the best!!

I would advised to denfinetly not use banking soda on decayed teeth with already weakened enamel. Thank you Dr. Oz for yet another horrible recommendation that is causing million of people tooth sensitivity. Banking soda = abrasive strawberries = acidic. How about we don't run something acidic and abrasive into already poor quality enamel. Let's start with step 1 strengithing your enamel ( Flouride rinse/ tooth paste) cahances of that staining being from smoking slim to none. Yes I am dental hygienist who smokes (sue me my job is stressful). Staining is most likely from fluorosis no amounts of baking soda will remove that and if it it does congratulation you have removed enamel. Prepare yourself for even more sensitivity. Find a dentist do not get over welmed with payment and priorities work. You are way to young to lose your teeth. Also lay off the sugar. And stay away from drugs meth mouth is awful.

Do you brush after every meal, floss once or twice a day?  That's the starting point.  If your dental hygiene's been so poor that you're experiencing gum problems at this young age, you might also consider adding use of a Water Pik and warm salt water (more teeth are lost to gum disease than cavities).

The dental school recommendation's a good one.  You may have quite a bit of work needed (so, ask for a printed summary and which items have the highest priority to be dealt with).

Dental school charges much less than private dental office does. Going to dental school to have dental care is advised.

Hi Cory,

For all the dental problems you have to visits a dentist for sure. But, for removing the smoking stains, you can use some home remedies like: using baking powder and strawberries.
Mash 2-3 berries with 1/4 teaspoon of baking powder thoroughly. Cover your teeth with the paste using a toothbrush. Rinse your mouth with water after 5 minutes.
This process will take time as nicotine stains are hard to remove.
