extracted tooth infection

I had a molar extracted due to an abcess 5 days ago. The extraction was very difficult and my dentist ended up cutting both sides of my gums. While extracting the tooth he broke it and then had to drill out the roots. My jaw is exposed and My gum where the tooth was is still swollen and slightly painfull. I have now noticed white patches on the gum where the tooth was. I don't think I have dry socket because the pain is not that bad at all. I do feel like i am coming down with a cold. Do you think that my gum is infected. The DDS did not suture my gums although i feel he should have.

i had a tooth out 3 weeks ago and im still in agony also i told dentist there was something sharp now sticking out my gum ,he got pliers and pulled it saying it was bone god the pain now is horendous ,also since having that tooth out and then he scaled the rest ,all my top teeth on the same side are hurting too , i feel this is all due to shoddy dentistry as i went for only one tooth hurting and now the whole lot do .im on anti biotics which have eased the pain a bit but im off back to the dentist in the morning ....
also id like to know something ,,, i was made redundant earlier this year and so now i have free dental treatment ..does anyone know if its common practise now cos of nhs funding being so high that dentists now are resorting to extractions ,,,just seems my dentist all of a sudden is extraction mad

It's probably not infection.  The white is probably just the bone showing through the gum.
