Divot in front tooth enamel--chip or cavity or does it matter?

I have a front tooth pictured at http://img244.imageshack.us/img244/4391/toothyumq1.jpg

Last night I noticed there is a divot in the enamel in my front tooth.  I had my teeth cleaned and checked 6 months ago and everything was fine. Now I either have a cavity or a chip in the tooth.

A few questions

1.  Can a cavity develop on a front tooth in 5 months (had a cleaning and checkup 5 months ago--no problems).  I brush at least twice a day and floss every day also and have had only one cavity in the past 30 years.

2.  The tooth has no sensitivity and I only discovered the chip/cavity when I got a new pair of reading glasses.  Is this a good sign?

3.  My dentist won't be back in the US for another 4 weeks.  Can I wait until then or should I see his associate.

Thanks

looked at the picture. it does not appear to be decay. looks more like there was a bonded composite filling there, and it fell out. it is a strange place to all of the sudden "chip". either way it looks harmless and can easily be bonded. nor ush-- you can wait till your dentist gets back.

id say you can wait. they can always fill it in with a composite filling material when he gets back. keep it clean and you can rinse with a flouride rinse such as act if your worried. pretty teeth!

I am sorry but I was not able to see the picture of your tooth. If it is a cavity which I do not believe I don"t think it will get any worse because it is a self cleansing area. If you are concerned then the associate for his opinion.
