pain after treatment by hygienist

5 months ago I transferred to an NHs dentist and had private treatment by the hygienest at the surgery. Since that time I have had severe pain along my bottom teeth. I have always had good teeth with only 5 fillings although I am 77 yrs old. The pain is so severe that I avoid cleaning along this area and have to take painkillers in order to get sleep. Can you please advise.

Did the pain start after the cleaning?  Have you gone back to get it checked on again?

Has the pain improved the last few days?  I would still recommend contacting your dentist to get it evaluated

Have not gone back to hiegenist as I cannot bear to have this area probed. I also feel that I will never, ever have this treatment again.

If the pain is sharp, stabbing, shooting, electric shock like lasting just for few seconds than u must see the neurologist at once,  as it may be neuralgic.
If the medicine u r taking is 'tegretol'
and this medicine is conteolling the pain than I think u may b having Trigeminal neuralgia.  Pl have it checked by a neurologist.
