post root canal problems

I had a root canal in the #5 molar on April 6th and finished on the 13th.  Since then I have had various problems including a burning tongue and the same problem with the roof of my mouth. (Also have a very dry mouth, which I never had before the root canal).  Went back to the Endodontist and my family dentist.  I was told to go to my family doctor, which I did today.  I received no help from any of them.  You can't see anything in my mouth, but it burns so bad (tongue and roof of mouth).   I have been using Biotene, but it only works for a brief period of time.  Sometimes when I put my tongue on the tooth that had the root canal and suck, I get a medicine taste.  I am  taking Simvastatin 3 times a week and a vitamin supplement, and I have been on that medication for more than a year.  Please help, if you can.  Thank you.

You may want to go to an allergist and get checked for a metal allergy in case you are allergic to the crown.  I'm assuming you have a base metal crown with porcelain.  If not, you may have an irritant underneath the crown or possibly cement that can be causing some irritation.  Best to go back to your dentist and ask him/her what they think.

Have you had crown put on that tooth? After getting root canal, it is highly recommended to get a crown put on in order to avoid future problems like tooth fracture, infection etc etc. Consult your dentist about that and see what his opinion is.
Hope you feel better
