Hi there,
A dental examination is very important for correct diagnosis and management. If there is pus still persisting it can track in various directions, towards the cheek, tongue, or palate, or downwards into the neck. In a wound biopsy a sample of tissue is taken from wounds that do not heal. The tissue is also be checked for cancer in individuals with chronic wounds and at risk of cancer. Treatment will depend on the underlying cause.
Best luck and regards!
