My point was to be careful about what you put in your body, I'm not against antidepressants at all. The above is my personal story and as I stated each individual is different. That said here is a link to an article about abilify and its 30% rate of causing diabetes after long term use. It's not a joke it's Forreal and to be taken seriously. It also has other serious side effects like the ones I experienced. http://www.glopc.com/abilify-warning-describes-increased-risk-of-diabetes/
If you are taking this medication now I would look it up yourself. Google "abilify and diabetes " and see what you find. It may work great but you may end up with diabetes in a few years. Take your body seriously, you only get one.
Every drug out there has possible side effects, I have never heard of anyone having that serious of a side effect while taking any kind of antidepressant, so I think your case was pretty rare. Like I said, it worked well for me and my mother. Things work differently for different people, and when you take a new medication there is always that risk.
Wellbutrin gave me an allergic reaction, I was itching constantly from the inside out. But that's just me, most antidepressant give me some kind of allergic reaction. I would be cautious about ability though, read about the drugs side effects and long term use effects. It's different for each individual but when I was on abilify it stiffened my facial and neck muscles, slurred my speech and caused me to drool and have severe head aches. My mother was also on it for years and it gave her Diabetes. I'm not against meds but you do have to be careful which ones you use because some of the side effects are worse than the actual use of the drug.
I used to take wellbutrin, I think it helped me a bit, although they had to up my dose.. I was also put on abilify which I believe had helped, it helped my mother as well.. although it is quite a pretty penny. I suggest you take it at night though, as it kind of relaxes you a bit. Good luck.
Wellbutrin did NOTHING for me, at all. I do have personal experience with that. I do not have first hand experience with the Abilify but my mom takes and one of my ex's took it and it works miracles for them. I hope it works for you, just give it a chance, it may take a little while. Don't really know how the therapeutic effects will be while you are coming off the sub, if I read that right. However when it starts working, it will take the edge off of the depression.
