Did i suffer withdrawls or did the depression come back.

I was on Effexor 75 for x 8 years, i went off in Dec and it took me about 3 weeks to wean myself off. Felt great, not so tired. Felt that i didn't need it anymore and was so happy. Then in May i started feeling a bit unsettled, frazzled. In June i felt down and my thought process were working over time, anxiety was coming back. In July i was startled about something that happened in my life and presto, depression and anxiety hit like a ton of bricks. i sunk into a dark place, felt like my world was falling apart. I lost 15 pounds in a matter of a week because my anxiety was so high. So my question is that i am not sure if somehow the drug stayed in my body till about 4 months later when i started to feel the effects of Effexor wearing off or if infact my depression came back.

The half life of Effexor is 5 hours which means it is totally out of your system in 25 hours. Effexor is not causing your symptoms... it is a return of depression from not taking an antidepressant.

Hi, I am on Effexor 150mg daily.  I took myself off it cold turkey a couple of years ago, and was well for a year.  However my depression came back worse than ever.

I don't know, but I have the feeling your depression has come back.  Have you spoken to a doctor about it?
