Antidepressants are very complex drugs.  In order to give yourselves every advantage, your wife should taper off the meds before becoming pregnant.  Make sure she gives the doctor a heads up before doing so.  Good Luck

some women can choose to continue antidepressants while pregnant.  With the reduction of dosage, and or a change from one to the other, it is sometimes in the interest of a pregnant woman to continue meds.

I read online about a risk of newborn respiratory problems, and withdrawal issues, in using Zoloft while pregnant.  After finding out I was pregnant, I stopped taking it all together, yet my OB/GYN maintains that it can be taken safely.  I would have your wife speak to her GYN in advance to get a trusted medical opinion.

Good Luck...
