Why in the world would your doctor not refill it?  Did you miss appointments?  Run out early?  More info would be helpful!

I went off Cymbalta - decreased from 60 to 30 one day, dropped all of it the second day. I had "zaps" and had trouble tracking with my eyes and it all lasted five days. All of us are different in how we react to drugs. It is not a bad drug.

You are saying doctors are unresponsive to the dreadful withdrawals, however, you stopped the med abruptly, instead of consulting with your doc about the best way to safely taper off the medication.  While NO taper may be completely a breeze, the symptoms can be brought to a tolerable level when the taper is done slowly and properly.

Also, doctors don't always take kindly to patients coming to them in full blown withdrawals, asking for help, when the patient never consulted them in the first place.  They often are left to feel as though the patient is taking their medications in their own hands, until it gets out of control and they can't handle it...then they turn to the doctor for help.  That gets messy for the doctor in so many ways, ethically, legally, you name it.

I'm sorry you had a bad experience with your last taper, but that doesn't mean you couldn't try again, this time, communicating to your doctor about your concerns.  He/she would have probably gone extra slow and kept a close eye on you.

I'm not saying all doctors do the right thing all the time, but I really hate to see doctor "bashing" when so many times, noncompliance on the patient's part is a big cause of some of their complications.  Also, if you don't like the way one doctor handles something, seek out a new one.

You also make such strong statement saying "Cymbalta is one of the worst...." If you are basing that opinion on the rough w/d you're having, that isn't entirely fair, and it's those kinds of braod statements that may scare the next person away from a med that may save their life.

Taking medication management into your own hands is NEVER a good idea and usually only ends in misery.  My advice to you is to talk to your doc, tell him what is going on.  You may be able to start a new game plan with your doctor to help minimize the symptoms you are getting.

I rally hope you seek out some help with this...you didn't have to go through this.

Very best of luck!

I know what you mean and I agree with you about the doctors aswell,it's like they just don't care,I mean what do they think is going to happen. It's sad when we have to dance to someone elses tune.Withdrawls from xannax are shocking aswell. It's good of you to give people on here the heads up about withdrawl symptoms from such a drug.I hope you get better soon.

Yes yes I know one isnt suppose to do what I did but the weanin off it isnt much better cause I have done it both ways during this 7 yrs.  Today was terrible.  I would have soon been dead.  Cymbalta is the worse of the antidepressants.  Drs r so unresponsive to the dreadful withdrawals

Were you weaned off the Cymbalta slowly under the guidance of your doctor?  How long were you taking it, at what dose?

Yes it is a nightmare but you are supposed to come off slowly. Most anti-depressants are like that. Some of the benzos are even worse. It does get better with time but it's different for everyone.
