Effexor to Wellbutrin---feeling symptoms

I have been taking Effexor ER capsules 225mg q day for a little over a year.  I was experiencing serious fatigue and lack of motivation from the medication and spoke with my Dr about switching to Wellbutrin.  She has given me Wellbutrin  XL 300mg per day and has me stopping the Effexor.  She had me take 150 mg for three days, then go down to 75 mg for three days and then start the Wellbutrin on day 7 taking half a tablet for a week and then going on to the full Rx of 300mg.  I am on day 4 of taking Wellbutrin (1/2 tab) without any Effexor.  I am having really bad side effects and am not sure whether it is the withdrawls from the Effexor or side effects due to the new Wellbutrin. I feel nauseated, spacey, having racing thoughts, hard to concentrate,  and horrible night sweats, and vivid dreams.  I am worried that I was taken off of the Effexor way too fast for the amount I was taking.  Please if you have any help, advice, or suggestions I would really love that.
thanks

Effexor is a great medication but you were on a high dose and I believe you came of it way to quick, you need to taper slowly.

I personally think that the symptoms you are experiencing is withdrawal from the Effexor.  You were on a large dose, and it will take quite a time to get it out of your system.  If you have read other posts about withdrawal from Effexor, you will see that it is difficult.  You could go back and see the doctor about this, or sit it out, and wait to feel better.  Some people say it takes quite a time, but in my case, I was on 150mg daily, and did withdraw at once.  I had never heard about all the withdrawal symptoms, and in my case I was feeling better after a couple of weeks.

My depression came back after a year, and I am on Effexor again.

I think maybe you should see the doctor again and say you are having bad withdrawal symptoms from the Effexor.  Also as you know, anti-depressants take a time to take effect, so with the Welbutrin you are effectively starting again, and it will take at least 4 weeks to feel their benefit.
