Go back on SSRIS for anxiety?

I used to be on an SSRI for depression/anxiety but I stopped taking it over the past few months just because I didn't want to be on it anymore. I was considering going back on them because my anxiety levels seem to always be high these days. I am very anxious about the future and am always worried that things won't turn out well. I read books and stuff to try to help myself. Anxiety and depression run in my family as well, maybe I just use this as an excuse...
Can SSRI's help lower my overall level of anxiety? I have read that they are more effective for people with serious depression, which I do not currently have.

Yes, as stated above anti-depressants also alleviate anxiety in most cases.  I advise you to go back on if they helped with your anxiety in the past.

Yes, antidepressants can really help with anxiety as well as depression. Many Drs prescribe antidepressants for anxiety because they can work so well.
