Yes I have insomnia. I do have pills to take, but they don't always help me sleep, and make me feel weird. If it affects your life, then you do need to talk to a doctor about it. It is OK for me because I don't work, but if you have to be alert the next day, then it can be a big problem. I do hope you get help with this.
insomnia is a big part of depression for a lot of people. In fact that is how my depression started. I didn't sleep for 3 nights in a row, my mind was racing. It is an awful thing.
For me along with an anti depressant, taking a low dose anti psychotic, seroquel or zyprexa gets me to sleep, I prefer Seroquel, because i can stay awake in the day) and i didnt need to stay on this for ever, but it got me through a rough patch and then i just needed an anti depressant.
Thanks whodunnit. That makes me feel alot better about my situation. !
Hi,
Insomnia is common with depression, one of the many key symptoms in fact. As is somnolescence, a weird name for sleeping too much. Essentially depression destroys sleep patterns so that at times you can't sleep and other times you can't stay awake.
Your doc is likely to prescribe medication for it. Either sleeping pills or, if dealing with the depression which is the real problem, anti depressants that have sleeping pill qualities inbuilt.
I take both and the sleeping one is so effective I take it half an hour before I want to sleep and I'm out. No hangover effect either as many used to have.
