Is Wellbutrin making me aggressive?

Please help.  I have been suffering a severe bout of depression for almost 4 months now and was finally referred by my doctor to a Psychiatrist.  After unsuccessfully attempting several types of medication (Nortrilene, Valdoxan and Sertraline) I have now been given Wellbutrin XL.  I take 150mg once a day in the morning but after only a few days on this I started feeling really argumentative and aggressive.  My Pysch told me it was early days and he wanted me to continue so I have for the last three weeks, but these effects are not improving and I still feel really depressed.  I also cry at everything now.  I have a five year old girl to look after and it really makes me upset when I lose my temper with her all the time.  I grew up with a mum who was always depressed and angry and I don't want her to experience the same thing.  Is this part of the depression (as my doctor says) or have other people experienced increased aggressiveness on this drug?  I feel really out of control and want to just stop this medication - is it safe to do so?

If Effexor have been successful in the past and you want to avoid sexual side-effect but want to try a new antidepressant than I highly suggest Cymbalta or Pristiq (the new Effexor).

Please address your medication change, dosage or schedule with a qualified physician.

Thanks for your help.  I have decided to ditch my psychiatrist and the tablets and wean myself of the Wellbutrin using Prozac.  On day three now and already feeling heaps better but with a cloudy head.  Problem is I don't want to stay on the Prozac as it previoiusly stopped working for me (altho' was great at first) and also played hell with my sex life!  Any ideas for a replacement? - effexor was also successful in the past.  I see from your previous posts that you seem to be pretty knowledgeable about various medications.

The probability of being irritable on this drug are higher than any other antidepressant due to its highly stimulating effect.

A NDRI like Wellbutrin alone cannot really take care of your depression if serotonin is involved in your depression too this is why they use Wellburtrin as a combo most of the time with a SSRI.
