I stopped taking meds about three weeks ago

I stopped taking Effexor then Celexa. I took Effexor for three to four years. The medication is too expensive so i asked my doctor to switch my medication to something cheaper. He switch me to Celexa. One thing lead to another I ran out of Celexa. I am so busy at work. I decided I did not have time for the doctor. So I stopped taking medications about three weeks ago. Well, I feel like I am losing it.  Obviously this "losing it" feeling must be from going cold turkey. yet I felt fine for about a week before I became extremely cranky to the point where I hate everything. But, I always do. This is one of the reason I decided I did not want to take meds anymore because I felt like meds did not work. Anyway, this is where i am at right now...Any comments?

If in the future you do decide to stop the medication, then you really need to taper off it slowly. Obviously you should consult with your doctor first before doing so.

The reason you probably did not notice any difference untill a week after discontinuing your medication is because Celexa has a very long half life. meaning that even after stopping this medication there could still be enough in your system even days after discontinuation.

Your symptoms are most likly being caused by a combination of your Depression as well as medication withdrawl. No doubt that this effect can cause one to feel as if they are "losing it."
