If your symptoms are severe then depression can be diagnosed within the two week period.
My personal opinion is that you should see a doctor (maybe urgently).
A doctor will be able to differentiate a physical problem from a mental one.
It's really hard to tell over the net and with no medical experience.  It could be stress-related or it could be something else.  Best to get it checked out.

You say it's only been a week with these symptoms? Too soon to tell for sure.

I will say that many of the symptoms your having do fall in line with Major Depression, maybe combined with anxiety.

As the weeks pass you will know. If it get's worse, then trust me you will know because it will make you feel like your going crazy. (don't worry your not going crazy it can just feel that way when it gets bad)

If you do not feel better in two weeks then you need to find a good Psychiatrist to get diagnosed. Maybe an MD first to get some tests done to rule out other causes.

If the MD give you a clean bill of health then on to the Psychiatrist.

Hi mate,

Sorry, but a lot of what you describe could just be grief reacrion to losing your girlfriend. Relationship breakups can devastate us and it's important we do grieve, properly. That is, learn to accept what's happened and start to plan ahead instead of holding on to what's gone.

Writing that is easy, doing it is damned hard as we just want things back how they were. If that's not a probablility you need to accept it's gone and move forward in any way you can.

Depression is exactly the same as grief really, except long term. The diagnosis needs a minimum of two weeks straight grieving or deep sadness before a doc would consider it as depression. Either way it's likely to feel the same but natural grieving does normally just relieve itself as your mind adjusts to the new circumstances. That's a very essential part of a human's body make up as it does self heal normally through grieving.

I'd say you feel weird because you don't sleep and you feel tired because you don't sleep and you don't think of much but her. Right?

Why do you see her most days? The best way to make the break is to not see her, even in passing, for a while. Don't ring her, email her, text her or anything like that and if she rings ask her nicely to not call until you have adjusted.

If it's not this that is causing what you feel I'm afraid you need to see a doc to diagnose it.

I would ask if you are taking and meds or other types of drugs too as they could also be causing this sort of thing. The dry mouth makes me think of that possibility.

Hang in there mate. It is seemingly impossible to get over a partner but it happens all the time. Even I did it and I was sure I couldn't go on. I did and met better partners and had netter relationships. And children too.
