Hello again, I am worrying as to how you are doing. Please let us know. I do so care about people who post here, and worry when they do not update us. How are you managing with the Effexor withdrawals?
Please keep in touch to put my mind at rest.
Not a good idea to stop taking 450mg Effexor cold turkey. This is a difficult medication to stop without experiencing withdrawals. It took me 10 months to taper without getting any withdrawals. I hope your doctor advised you you would experience withdrawals.
There are a lot of postings on this site about Effexor withdrawal. You could experience the things you are experiencing for a while.
I think you should discuss with your doctor about how soon you should go on the new anti depressant. Shame you stopped the Effexor cold turkey, but I do hope you feel better soon. Could take a while.
I did lose the weight I put on with Effexor when I stopped it.
Let us know how you get on.
Oh, I should add, I also wouldn't start a new drug until i tapered off my old drug successfully. Otherwise you can't tell the side effects or effects of the new drug from withdrawal symptoms of the old, and new drugs never prevent withdrawal since no two drugs work exactly the same.
Don't fool around with Effexor -- it's very hard to stop taking. You should taper off very slowly to be safe. I think you'll be okay because it wasn't working; it's my theory, and it's just a theory, that when a drug doesn't work it probably isn't being metabolized well and your brain is less likely to be as altered in its natural function as when a drug works well. But again, messing with this drug is a bad idea, so I'd go back on it and taper off slowly if it were me.
