How long have you been on it? It takes 4-6 weeks to notice the effects for most people, though side effects start right away. If the drug doesn't work at all and you've been on it for awhile, adding another drug to it isn't the right approach. This is called augmentation, and you can look at studies of it and learn about it on the NIH website. You augment a drug when it works but just not well enough -- it makes no sense to augment a drug that isn't working. In that case, you taper off and try a different drug. Abilify was approved to treat depression that hadn't proved amenable to other meds, but it is used nowadays by some docs to augment another antidepressant, but again, if the original drug isn't working, there's nothing to augment.
