I have a union rep I tried to call her but no answer I saw her today could not tell her in great detail she is going to call me this weekend I hope. I asked a Lawyer it would mean that I sue my employer but unsure if I should go that route....
This is most interesting...but getting curiouser and curiouser??
We are her for you anytime you need to vent.
It is a very tough situation. Especially with what appears to be little support from the union. My niece is 3rd generation union rep.....so I used to ask her the best way to handle stuff when at library. From what I can tell the union can't always help in these difficulties.
Have you and a rep had a sit down with management?
Or do you think staying under the radar is best plan?
Either way, best wishes for hassle free employment!
I don't quite understand, your manager was at the doctor?
When I go to work now its like a big whole that have been taken out...Friday I went to the doctor....And out of the blue my ASST Manger at my job was there God is the only one who can set things like this up....She was sorry of course..I have no fight with her...Its just something that happen to me..And no one is ever going to get to the bottom of this..And I just have to live with it..Thank you for all your advice and being a friend..
Good point. Still isn't right though! :0(
He is only a pawn on a chess board...
Wow, sounds like a lot of shady crap going on at your job! The president want you to text him when you're at a union meeting? Abd he actually asked you to do so? OMG, he can NOT do that.
You should seriously consider reporting him to your union, or higher ups on the corporate ladder.
Wow.
I have a union but it goes in one- ear out the door...The president is afraid of losing his job......He wanted me to text him when I have my meeting...I will not......I want so much to get the uno what out of that place.
While it may be true that an employer can find ways to terminate employment.....it is also true that the law is on your side as nursegirl has said.
My former employer, the public library, was notorious for being out of sync with reality and the law in terms of how employee issues were handled.
We were censured for taking any time off as you mentioned for doctor's visits...it was strongly suggested that we do this on our time. As our schedules changed every 3 months....and I worked mostly nights and weekends....I could comply. You may not be able to....and this needs to be taken into consideration.
Do you have a union?
In order to Have FLMA Every time I"m off for a doctor's visit the doctor has to say the reason I was off and can go back to work the next day.My employer has incidents they give there employee including FMLA. can and will get you fired. They know how to go around the system and they win.
Employers are legally bound to acknowledge and abide by an FMLA once it is granted.
Now, some employers may challenge the validity of an FMLA by asking for the opinion of more than one doctor, but I'm pretty sure no employer can deny an employee an FMLA as long as the process is properly followed.
There may be exceptions if someone in contracted and not an actual employee (is you're talking about something like that?). In those cases, they wouldn't be obligated to adhere to an FMLA.
they give only 12 weeks...My job works on a system they do not recognize FMLA ONLY FOR DOCTOR VISTIS.
Yes, an FMLA ("family medical leave act") is a great option for people who have to miss more work than the average person due to an illness, acute of chronic. You have to be with your employer for at least 12 months ans will have to have your doctor fill out the appropriate FMLA papers indicating your limitations.
Just be sure to turn the completed FMLA forms back in in a timely manner. There are deadlines. Your HR dept will have all of the necessary info.
You may be covered under FMLA (unsure if I have acronym right. It is a federal act that protects employees from being fired for a recognized disability.
I worked at a public library until I was 70....used FMLA for two problems...acute sinusitis, and arthritis in feet and knees. My doctor was the most important ally in this: he or she must fill out forms annually stating what is wrong and giving guidelines for absences and ...in my case...number of hours I could be in a job requiring hours of walking.
I am so sorry you are having difficulties at work. I admire that you can continue working with depression. I tried very hard to keep on working, but that darned depression kept getting in the way.
I was got rid of eventually, but it did mess my life. Lost house because I could not pay mortgage, could not work because of bad depression. I took employer to an industrial tribunal, as I knew they got rid of me because I had so much time off with depression (including hospitalisation) but I lost. I got another job, part time, but got bad depression again. Could not find it in me to work any more.
I went on Invalidity Benefit, so I think that is a good idea of yours. Try that.
IT VERY HARD I TALKED TO A FIELD SUPERVISOR HE WANT TO KNOW WHAT THEY CAN DO TO SOLVE THIS...THEY CAN'T I'M GOING TO ASK MY DOCTOR FRIDAY WILL HE SIGN SOME PAPERS SO I CAN GO OUT ON DISABILITY I'M THINKING OF RETIREMENT WHEN MY VACATION IS IN OCTOBER...I'M SO HURT....AND I'M THE ONE WHO GETS EGG ON HER FACE AND THAT MANAGER AT SEARS COMES OUT SMELLING LIKE A ROSE
This sounds very difficult...how do you manage?
