I took it, it was very good for me. I did have side effects while on it, but they improved a bit..
I was on high dose in combination with anti psychotic and I really needed it. I gave it up, I never had withdrawal symptoms, now i am medication free and fully recovered.
Why did you have to go off cold turkey? That is a painful way to go off.
Felt great on Effexor. No problems, unless I missed a dose or was late taking a dose. Say I forgot to take it at 8am, by noon I was very nauseous & lightheaded. I did have to go off of it cold turkey (my doctor thought I was having an allergic reaction) it was a miserable experience. I was in bed for 4 days, very very ill, with these bizarre brain zaps. Took about a month for me to start feeling healthy/good again. If it's working for you all that is great, everyone's body reacts differently.
Glad you actually read the feedback, and glad that the medicine is working for you also :)
been on effexor for 13 years. Dont know where i would be without it. At the end of the day, its about quality of life. Good luck to all
Thank you guys Alot for your feedback....... needed to get out of the negative, and thanks for your experience :) needed to hear it, Yes, There are succes stories!!!
I found this site and was reading all the comments and got really worried. I really didnt want to start taking it, but I had already filled the perscription and didnt want to waste money so I started it anyways. And boy am I happy I did. I never experienced and side effects at all. And now I feel 1000 times happier on it. I have been on it a month now. Before I started it I tried Lexapro, but it didnt work. I was so depressed that I didnt want to leave the house and my kids were feeling like a chore. Now I am happy all the time and am enjoying my kids..taking them to the park everyday, going to the gym, not fighting with my husband, not crying every night. Effexor was such a life saver for me!!!
Unfortunately on the forums all we hear are the horror stories, but the success stories far out weigh the bad. People doing well on medication(s) have no reason to talk about it for the reasons theresa stated. What matters is YOUR experience on medication, as we all respond differently to them. It's often trial and error as to what will work best for us but once we find the right one, it's well worth it! It's working great for you, and we're very happy that it is! Now take advantage of this time and get on with your life! Best wishes and take care.
Mostly on the internet you see the negative, you don't see the thousands of people who are doing well, because they are getting on with their life and not on the internet. So you get more of the negative. It worked great for me and i gave it up without any trouble as well.
Though i still have depression and took another med.
I am not taking Effexor, but I take Lithium and have read all the bad side affects and stories on that drug and it's working great for me, so I would just ignore it, that's what I did, its working great for me and that's all that really matters in end.... Good luck
