Severe Depression

Was in hospital on Wed because I was shaking and crying from anxiety. Haven't been able to sleep or eat for a while.
Doc put me on Celexa and side affects are pretty intense. Any advice on how to deal with the affects from people that are on it currently? It's day four for me with a 20mg dosage.

Also  doc put me on Ativan and Ambien but I still can't sleep for four days.

Sorry if my story is all over the place it's hard to concentrate with no sleep, affects, and barely eating.

I have therapist and psychologist I see them both once a week.

Thanks for any advice

Hi sweetie:

Many anti-depressants will cause insomnia as a side effect, but it usually goes away after a few weeks/months.

There are a LOT of SSRI's out there, so you may have to try a couple until you land one with the least side effects.  Don't give up; good luck!

Thanks Collimingo! Sometimes it just just helps to hear someone has gone through exactly what you have gone through. I had to stop taking the Celexa and feel much better. It made me not want to eat and unable to sleep at all! I see the doc on Tues . I will ask him about possible bipolar. Are you on any meds?? Thanks for advice!!

same thing happened to me Two years ago couldn't stop crying and shaking. All the years I thought I was depressed I was given antidepressants that made me worse. About  8 months ago I was diagnosed with bipolar. I don't want to make the post about me, just sounds similar, especially the not sleeping for days...sounds like bipolar to me. Maybe you should discuss it with your psoc...good luck to you, I know what you're going through.
