Should I see a Psychiatrist?

m18
Hello,
I wanted to know if I should see a psychiatrist. I have a lot of problems with stress which causes me to snap at people, feel tired all of the time, and I also sleep a lot. It is really affecting my life especially my marriage. I want to know if I should get help or is this something that I should just deal with? Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thank You.

You DO have the classic symptoms of depression.  Depression makes one want to sleep all the time, moody, and angry.  It may not be severe, but still depression, seek help and you and your doctor decide what is best.

Hi M,

Not a lot of info there really. You say stress makes you snap at people. Is that so or is that just an excuse? Are you angry or do you just snap for the sake of it?

And you sleep a lot.

That could actually be the reason for your snapping. Too much sleep makes us feel dreadful, as bad as too little sleep.

From what you've written here I would not go to a pdoc at all, just a GP, basic doc. You don't have enough symptoms to be diagnosed as depression, based on your info here only of course. If you think about it what you describe is what teenagers go through. They sleep late, stay up late and get up grumpy and snap at everybody. Not saying that's what's troubling you but just that it doesn't sound too serious, as yet anyway.

Van_bc_604 pretty much sumed it up for you. It just kind of depends on how bad this problem is effecting your life.

There are many different types of depression and many different levels of severity, but even mild to moderate depression and anxiety dissorder can be very difficult.

You have the classic symptoms of depression and anxiety.  See a psychiatrist and get help, some things we can't do alone.  I recommend a psychiatrist because they are more knowlegeable on the drugs, and should you have any issues you need to discuss, they are trained to do this.

See psychiatrist?,,,are you f-cking crazy!?!
Just kidding. lol
I've seen psychiatrists.

Sounds like your going through lethargy and depression or something. If it effects your marriage and other important stuff in your life, then it's worth seeing a psychiatrist,
could be biochemical.
