Dehydrated?

Does anyone else forget to drink water? I set reminders for myself to drink but still only get 4-5 glasses a day.

It's definitely better for you to drink the amount you're drinking.  Some experts will say up to 8 8oz glasses a day, but I think that's a bit excessive, personally.  4-5 is an excellent amount.

If people aren't big water drinkers, there are so many flavored water products out there today that makes it easier, and more palatable. There are the flavored waters, which have no color added, those are pretty tasty.

I really like the new "Mio" water flavorer.  Has a nice taste and color...and each person can use as little or as much as possible.  I'm the type that if I'm drinking something orange flavored, I prefer it to be orange in color.  That's just me.  That's why the Mio works for me.  A few of my friends and colleagues really recommend the Mio "energy" which has a lot of natural supplements that are good for you.  There's always Crystal Light kind of products too.  Heck, my kids love those little packets of kool-aid, lemonade.  Just add to a bottle of water, and viola!  Instant drink.

LOTS of options!

Thanks for all your input!  I just wondered if getting too little water was common among people who have depression or glucose intolerance.  I have a feeling that getting enough water to live is not enough to live WELL.  Wonder why it's so hard to remember to drink when water is so easy to access.  Bottoms up!

I drink water every day, just a little though!! Mostly i drink soda as well, and coffee if im lucky enough to get my hands on it ;)
Its still really important to drink it..our bodies are 80% water, and drinking water helps regulate our heart  rate and core temrature as well as help rid the body of toxins It plays a role in almost every bodily function. A person could survive a long time without food but just a few days without water will kill us. Plus, for most of us its hot hot summer!!! We sweat more, that means our body is loosing more, the average person loses a pint of water a day i think it is, just through sweating. Maybe all of us including myself, who have menioned not ever drinking it at all should start just for our healt!!!!!! ;)

I'm NOT a water drinker at all, I drink soda, coffee, sometimes juices.  Never have been.

You don't HAVE to drink water itself, as long as you are ingesting liquids of some sort (which will also come from your food).

You have no worries about dehydration, especially drinking 4-5 glasses of water daily. The only time you may be at risk would be if you were working out in very hot conditions without drinking, then there may be a concern, but as it stands now, you're fine, you have nothing to worry about.

Like mammo said, our body tells us when we need to eat and drink.  As long as you drink when you feel thirsty, you should be a-ok, no need to set a "water alarm".  4-5 glasses of water a day is actually quite good!  You're fine!

I do not drink water often at all. I will go days without it actually. However, I have gotten sick because of it as well. I know that not drinking water can lead to problems with your kidney. So try and drink as much as you can, I will try to do the same LOL.

I never had a diagnosis of a problem with my kidneys but I feel back pain there quite often.  I get cramps in my feet, and headaches when I'm dehydrated, but don't always realize that's the problem right away. I think I'll have some water now.

"Thirst" is our body's way of letting us know we need water.  If you're getting 4-5 glasses a day and feel fine, you're getting enough.  We also get water from other liquids, and our foods.  I read that your kidneys hurt....have you had issues with dehydration and your kidneys?  Knowing this would allow us to better answer your question.  Thanks.

I rarely ever drink water!! Ive gotten very sick and hospitalized for it, once when i was like 6 and again last year. 4 to 5 glasses i would say is enough for that not to happen, but your body still needs more than that, as of course there most made up of water..
