I'd would not recommend any diet drug(s) period, unless prescribed by a doctor. You can however, try a reasonable program of exercise and a change in diet(which I won't go into).
What I would do, however, is talk with your doctor about changing your medication.
Since you didn't identify your issue, it's difficult to suggest some medications you could ask about, but some of the newer medications cause less weight gain or none at all.
And finally, I wouldn't be so quick to blame the Paxil since you indicated that you've been taking it on and off, which in itself can cause periods of depression where you eat to ease your depression.

you can do stuff that's good for you or you can lose weight. the eat less and move more is all very well but not all of us have the self control for that. the modern 'diet drugs' really should not be taken with any SSRIs but you might be ok with orlistat. be prepared to wear nappies though.
Diet pills are not good for anyone, PERIOD. If you want to know the best thing to do is, start walking and add to your time little by little and eat less little by little. Pick one fattening thing to stop eatting or drinking each week if that's all you can do. Like add up the calories intake of soda per day or bread products or fried foods. Pick the one that is the highest in calories,fat,sugar,carbs that is also the one without good vitamins and nutrients. Don't mess up your head with pills because it isn't a diet that will help, it is a life style adjustment (for life) if you want to keep the weight off and get healthier. Drink water before meals too, add a slice of lemon to make it go down easier. You will see weight loss if you make some life changes as listed above. A great book to get is Dr. Phil's 7 basics to weight loss (I think is the title). He knows what he's doing with that book. Good Luck and Happy Marriage to you in 17 months.
