Wellbutrin Problems

I didn't really have any problems with wellbutrin at first. I felt great. I had a ton of energy, I was getting things done, and I had no suicidal thoughts. Then all of the sudden things went totally wrong. It's like the medication just wore off. Now it feels like my depression is back in full swing. I have no energy, I can't get anything done, and I feel like just giving up. The only thing that I can think of is I used to use bupropion by watson and now they gave me budeprion by teva. If anyone has had the same problem than please let me know. I felt so good and things were going so well. I have to get back on the wellbutrin that worked because I can't live this way again! I've read online that sometimes switching the maker of generic forms of drugs can cause problems but, I can't believe that it just stopped working like that! I actually felt normal for a little while, and even had my sex drive back. I don't know what to do.

Cymbalta had very strong sexual side effects for me.  MAybe not for you ?

Wellbutrin didnt work for me.

I think you are doing all the right things, people under report the sexual side effects because of embarrassment, you should not have to live with that and you have a right to say that it is intolerable to you.  I wonder how the Doctor would feel if they had to put up with that.

Thanks for the tip. I'll ask my doctor about Cymbalta as soon as I can. I think I've heard other people mention Cymbalta as another medication that doesn't kill your sex drive. To be honest, my doctor gets seems to get worried that I don't call her every time I have a problem so you're definitely right about calling her. She's a really awesome doctor!

Don't be worried about calling your Dr, that's what she's there for. I do think different companies use different ingredients. Other members here please correct me if I'm wrong. Another med that does'nt effect your sex drive, from my experience, is Cymbalta. That's great that you will be getting your meds for $4.00. Some of them can be so expensive. Keep us up to date on how things are going.  Remar

Thank you guys for all the advise. I go to see my doctor on July 19th so I'm going to talk to her about what I should do. I feel like I just want to start over with all my medications and go back to the beginning. At first I took buproprion by watson a while ago that I got from a target pharmacy. It was a small purple pill. The main problem was that it was running me about 80 dollars a month and I couldn't afford it so I switched to generic paxill. Not only did the paxill not help that much with my depression, but it totally killed my sex drive. I made the foolish mistake of trying to quit cold turkey and the withdrawals were so terrible that I had to get back on it. Now I'm stuck taking it till my doctor and I get the taper off schedule set up. Then I got accepted by the hospital for the charity care program witch means that all my prescriptions  are 4 dollars. I went to their pharmacy to get back on the buproprion and they gave me budeprion by teva. I also take clonezepam for anxiety and perphenazine. I just can't go back to being impotent. It's just embarrassing and I'm only 24 years old. People tell me that I shouldn't worry about that right now but, I don't think people that don't go through what people with depression be it men or women have to should say something like that. Sometimes it seems like we have to choose witch physical sacrifice we'll make just to be able to get through the day. Remar, I'm definitely going to see if I can get back on the buproprion even if they have to special order it for me. I might see if I can get the brand name Wellbutrin. Wineandroses, you may have a good point so I'll try to be patient and find the right ''cocktail''. Good word!  KarenRB58560, I'm really hoping that you're right! It was so great to feel that good that I have to get their again. I should call my doctor but, I just don't want to bother her. She never makes me feel that I do I just feel like if I call her then I might be getting in the way of someone who really needs her help and I don't want to be some bothersome patient. If anyone knows of a medication other than wellbutrin that typically doesn't kill your sex drive please let me know. Thanks for all your responses, sometimes this forum is the only way I have to vent. Hope I can return the favor some day.

From what I've read it definitely could be the brand switch.  That would probably be where to start to see if thats the problem before switching to another med or quitting.

Some people cannot take Welbutrin and I am one of them.  Perhaps Welbutrin is not the medication to you. Perhaps your body metablizes the drug quickly.  I suggest you get back with your doctor for either a medication tweak or change.  There are a slew of wonderful antidepressants available and there is no reason to suffer.  Sometimes it just takes awhile to find the correct "cocktail" but it is well worth the trial and error to find one that works for you. Best of luck to you.

Can you go back on the bupropion by watson again? Did your Dr recommend you switch companies? There's a possibility that the ingredients are different. How long have you been on the same dose? You may need an increase. I hope you get things worked out soon.  Remar
