Should I ask for a different anti-depressant?

taramacaExternal User
I currently take Wellbutrin for my depression,  but I feel like it has not been working the past couple of months. Not sure if I should ask for a different medication or something to just help this one? I feel down 6 days out of 7, more often than not.

There's only two ways to deal with a med that's stopped working, really -- take a higher dose if you're not maxed out or taper off of it as slowly as you need to and try to find a different one that works.  Meds do poop out for many of us and when they do adding a different med to it won't make it work.  You only add meds to a med that's working and you want it to work better, there's really no way another drug added to one that doesn't work anymore will change that.
