Zoloft Headaches and Insomnia

I went to my primary care physcian and he prescribed me generic zoloft because I told him I was depressed and that I had been on it when I was younger and it helped.  I started taking it 4 days ago at 50/mg a day.   I am experiencing awful headaches and I never get headaches so it concerns me.  Its a like severe pressure in the head.  I also have not been sleeping without taking something to calm me down like xanax or klonopin and even then I toss and turn.  My sleep was poor before the treatment but not this bad.   When I was on zoloft previously I was on a smaller dose as I was a teen then.  I don't remember getting headaches like this.  Should I take something for the headaches?  Should I stop taking the zoloft?  Or should  I wait it out and if so for how long.  I am currently uninsured and had to pay full price for the zoloft so I really hate to try another med after spending all that money on a 90 script of 100mg pills.  Please help me.

I have been on zoloft for about 3 years but who knows if it even works. But it does take a couple weeks to get into  your system so maybe just try to work with it for a few weeks and take some Aleve or tylenol and then after a month go back to the doc if it doesn't go away because everyone reacts different to that med. Good luck!

I found myself a bit off for a small number of days after I started Zoloft and then it straighten out after 4 o r 5 days, so it might just be your body adjusting to the medication.
If it doesn't change soon, though, maybe you should go back to your doctor and discuss this with him. He is the one that can help you the most about complementing the Zoloft to get rid of your side effects, or change the meds.

I'm having the same problems with that med.  I've been on for a week now.  Tylenol seems to be working for me.  But I am at a lower dose 25mg/day.  I am dying with the nausea (sp), and I now now what women go through with hot flashes.
