Depression and Accutane

I have stopped taking Accutane about one month ago and I have become very depressed.  I am aware of the fact that depression can occur while taking the drug but I haven't been able to find out if there is an increase in depression after you stop taking the drug.  If so, how long will it last?  Also, while taking Accutane, I developed muscle pain, now that I am off, I still have the pain.  When should that go away?

Hi! I'm experiencing depression, probably because of Accutane. It started while I was still on it, but ramped up after I stopped taking it. I don't know yet, when it will go away! But it's been six months since I stopped Accutane, and it's still here. Good luck! We've got this ;)

I looked up some info - you can google Acutane and depression. It seems to occur while taking the drug and not afterwards. I suggest you see your family doctor regarding both. There seems to be quite a list of side effects w/this drug. You have to be a well informed consumer and not take something that the drug companies are advertising. I can't answer this question, but you both need to be on some sort of anti-depressant especially if either of you have had any suicidal thoughts.

Hi,

Our son developed a deep depression while on Accutane, has been off for 15 months and is still suffering from depression.  I am wondering how you are doing and if you are male or female?  I really have only read of males with the depression side effects.
