Zoloft caused insomnia and sexual side effects for me. I could not even drink a 4th cup of coffee without feeling like I was on crack. I stopped Zoloft and went back on prozac. I stopped the prozac after a couple traumatic events with increased panic. For some reason i thought the prozac no longer worked. i doubt the zoloft would have either.
The sexual side effects will happen with any ssri, but prozac was much more suttle and only lasted a few days. the zoloft was far worse, my desire was greatly diminished and..well you know the rest.
I was told early on that if an ssri is correct you will feel nothing...NO side effects, other than brief sexual side effects and gradually feel better. I tried paxil 15 yrs ago felt anxious jittery...just worse in general and stopped after a couple days. I never tried one again until about 5 years ago, it was wellbutrin and the same undesired **** happened. I did some research and discovered that good old prozac had the most research, the least and shortest (duration) sexual effects.I think Zoloft has the least research and MOST sexual side effects (67%) of users to be exact.
I hated zoloft, only lasted 3 weeks, i could not sleep, it suppressed my appetite, had NO prayer of going back to sleep once i woke up and that would be after 3 or 4 days of no sleep. The numb noodle thing was unbearable, no hope of finishing the job...if you know what i mean, i dont want to be selfish in the bedroom but it was unbearable.
You will see many that will say give it more time the effects will pass. I dont agree, in my opinion the way to know if it is correct is to feel NO side effects like a placebo then gradually feel better. if you feel anxious or speedy get off it. The sex stuff took about 5 weeks to hit me on the prohizzle then went away quickly, after that it seemed to enhance sex. the zoloft had the numb noodle thing going from about day 3 with no end in sight. i am no Dr. but that is my advice.
i am very glad to be back on prozac and sleeping again, eating again and you know whating again.

Everybody's different when it come's to medication and there are many different medication's out there for one to try. If you dont feel that this medication is helping you, allthough I dont feel that you have given it enough time, the by all mean's, go to your doctor and explain your concern's and try another. As far as the "side effect's", I think they all have a bearing when it come's to the sexual nature, maybe one not as harsh as the other.
Good luck
