daily migranes

Hi. I'm a 17 year old female, and I have been experiencing migranes for the past 5 days straight. I suffer from depression, and am currently waiting on a therapist to call me back. I'm hoping it's just a symptom of my depression. I have also been in emerg twice in the past month with anxiety attacks. I don't have any medical history, and barely had heaches, let alone migranes in the past. The pain is unbearable, and is something that advil extra strength cannot conquer. The pain goes from the left temple, to the center, then the right. I don't feel sick, or have any other pains. I'm really worried as to why they are occuring daily, and cannot deal with the pain. I've been indoors because I cannot stand being outdoors. Light, and sound irritate me. I am planning to goto a walk in clinic tomorrow because my doctor is not in for the next week. Does anyone know what it could be? Please help.

I hear both vits are good for stress and anxiety - it's good you have a neuro to get that into your child's daily regime. I personally think many health issues are vitiman defficiencies - I realize I feel worse on days I don't take mine. Kids mostly these days are malnourished from instant and over processed foods. Growing up, my diet was great, my dad is a diabetic so that was taken into consideration then. I'm not that great now with my diet, so I'm having to compensate. You have to be really careful with Riboflavin, well both and  the dosage of both vits, flushing and your blood pressure could go up.

Anxiety is a tough one, because originally a negative thought that throws you into anxiety. The longer you are in anxiety phase, it will flip your chemicals out of whack which then triggers more negative feelings.

My 11 yr old has migranes, as do I, and the Neurologist told us to try Riboflavin which is vitamin B2(100mg) and Magnesium (400mg). They found that a lack of those 2 things can cause migranes that last days.  It has worked for us. Sometimes certain meds deplete the vitamins from your body which can indirectly cause side effects like migranes. If you try it, be careful, too much Magnesium can cause diahrea.

I get wicked headaches when I'm anxious, what you're describing I've been through. I switches meds, and I was headache free for 6 months, but it's back with a vengeance with some breakthrough anxiety. They aren't migraines, but your body reacts physically to the anxiety. I've been on all sorts of migraine meds and nothing has worked. I have an ongoing prescription for flexeril, a pretty strong muscle relaxant, it works sometimes. My GP said that when the headaches get that severe they probably turns into cluster headaches, and there's not much you can do. Narcotics only work for a short period and give you "boomarang" headaches, codeine is nasty for that and it only gets worse when the med wears off. I had headaches for close to 10yrs straight, that in itself actually made me suicidal a couple of times. I've begged my doc for pain relief, and bawled in her office. I'm taking 4 motrin at a time (800mgs) and 750mgs of Tylenol and it doesn't touch the pain at times. She just gave me some Toradol, so on payday I'm going to pick that prescription up, it's a stronger NSAID. I hope it helps.

So the long and the short of it, there aren't any quick solutions for these headaches because the root cause is anxiety. You'd be better off waiting to see your own doctor so that you have follow through, and a reference to a psychiatrist. If you aren't on any meds for your anxiety /depression, they may just help. In the meantime, you might want to do heat and ice therapy on the back of your neck, which is where your headaches are stemming from.
Hang in there,
LCC

That could be a sign of something of concern and migraines are not generally a symptom of depression or anxiety especially if you haven't had them in the past. I would suggest making an appointment with a doctor and get this checked out as soon as you can.
