depressed for NO reason

well, I had a spinal fusion in Dec, then had to go through withdrawals from medication given at that time, then trouble with adult kids, and just a bunch of other little things. usually I take st johns wort and it seems to work really good for me for a long time. now though, I have gained weight, don't want to go anywhere, its too much trouble to put on make up or go anywhere, I just want everyone to leave me alone. do you think this will run its course, or do I need to address this with a dr. I might add, I am sick of doctors, office visits and everything like that. I have another upcoming surgery in the next few months to remove my thyroid, I just cannot take it anymore, any suggestions?

thanks to both of you for writing,
I am so tired, so out of it, feel so down.
I felt better earlier today, then all the sudden got so down and tired.
I hope this ends soon.

I'm sorry you're having a tough time.  I'm not sure why you say you have no reason, it seems to me that you are dealing with alot and that your body has been through alot too.  I too would follow up on the thyroid to see if that is causing or at least adding to your low feelings.  Take good care of yourself.

Hi cat9841, sorry about your medical troubles, I would suggest you to talk not with a regular doctor but with a psychiatry.
If you need meds do not forget to tell them about st. johns wort since it is not compatible with same of the meds.
Also tell them about your thyroid, believe it or not that could be the cause of your depression,
My doctor made me do a thyroid test to rule out as a reason of my depression.
Good luck.
