depression

Hey, lately i have been really depressed all i want to do it sit in my room and listen to death metal....what should i do to make myself happier.. :/ like my friends try and sometimes it helps but other times it just irritates me.. is there something wrong with me that i cant just keep myself happy?

wow thanks for all the help you guys :) it makes me feel a little better its just everything lately has been getting worse in my life, my parents do nothing but yell at me for everything happening in their lives and my boyfriend takes his anger out on me verbally like he will argue with me about almost anything and ilove him i dont wana loose him but idk what to do just everything in the last month has been horrible and i just feel like if i would fall off the face of the earth no one would seem to notice or even care... i need to get away from my problems but when my problems are things in me and things i want and i cant leave then what do i do???? i have to deal with them...like my parents i cant just leave them that would be to hard on me and my boyfriend we have been on and off for the last six years and everything is just going down hill it seems and idk what to do i been trying to get into counceling but they dont have any openings and meds make my depression worse i tryed like ten diffrent ones and they all do the same thing.... :(

Good morning or evening or day or night or afternoon and hello. My name is Hamed Khatiz and I am a sixteen year old drummer, student, writer and more from Sydney. I have been through so many of these cases. People write in saying they are severely depressed, they know they have an amazing life and amazing friends and they say depression is preventing them from enjoying and appreciating that. Thye are intensely youngg and they are always brand new members. I always say the same thing to them. You will be amazed how simple the solution could possibly be. You will be amazed the outcome of a method which you might not have thought of before. Before you go into pscyhotherapy and anti-depressant medications and counselling, I want you to try and remember a couple of things first.

The first thing to remember. Depression is a severe condition. It is a condition where yuo pick up unhealtyh living patterns and slowly drift away from the natural urge of socialization. You pick up loneliness and hopelessness and this is where is begins to get lethal. Never underestimate depression as a condition cause it can kill and it is real. It is never "all in your head" as some say.

The first thing to try. Have you ever heard of a hormone named Seratonin? It is developed when we sleep, it is involved when we are having sex and it makes us happy. The first point is the Aha! moment. Are you getting enough sleep ebtween 8 and midnihgt? This is the development tiem for seratonin in our body. If we do not get enough sleep and tus seratonin, we have a bad day, we are unmotivavted, we are sluggish and we would rather stay home. This is a red flag. Socialization and exercise are key to the prevention of depression. This is something you could change in your lifestyle pretty easily.

The second thing to remember. There are people out there who are willing to love you and support you through whatever you go through. Parents, friends, teacher, priests (or pastors or vicars), police even, they help you in this stuff. Way faster than you would by yourself.

Second thing to try. Havve you tried talking to your parents about it? They love you and they have been inspired by you. Imagine how many sacrifices your parents made for you. They made them because they wanted to send you out happy into a happy environment. Because you are life, you are valuable. If yuo are lost, your parents will find you. Because you are bunkababy from Wisconsin. You will be surprised what they will do.

Last thing to remember. Suicide as I said earlier is caused by people thinking it will never be better and no one cares. It does get better and you are stronger because of it. If yuo do not believe anyone else, read the responses and the paragraph above this.

That would make me depressed to sitting around listening to death metal?! Is that a group? Exercise can help mood.  And I agree with rain lover ---- try to be around people who build u up and support u.  All the best

You need to establish what you want from life and stay away from negative people and be around positive people instead that will make you feel good.Depression won't last forever and as that great saying goes,"it will pass" and it always does,you are not going to feel like this for the rest of your life,things will get better,I have always noticed with depression that if you do the things you enjoy doing and don't let people tell you what to do,etc then you have more control over your life.I wish you all the best.The right meds can help to.

I've been there in the past and also help my bestfriend, she been depresses for 2 years and has attemted suicide once already this year, there is not much you can do to help but  try and put your trust in just one person it may not seem like much but it will help alot more than you think. also remember that everyone aroud will always be there for you. i'm here if you need to talk to someone that has been though it to :)
